Children’s Study
When Lyn completed her degree at University of Windsor, she realized that she had not yet discovered a way of painting that excited her. She remembered the wonderful paintings that her little students in Grade One were able to produce. To charge up her batteries, Lyn offered painting lessons for six-year-olds in her studio. There, she watched their fearless imaginations create compositions loaded with colour and without restraint. She recalled the art of the CoBrA Group of Painters, who in Europe, following WWII, discovered a new way of painting, based on young children’s art. In particular, the art of Karel Appel helped Lyn discover both joy and freedom in her art.
