The Last Bow - 1981 - oil on Masonite, 36” x 48”

This painting of two peonies bending down to the earth, makes me think of two dancers , taking their final bow on stage, after a brilliant performance. Peonies have such a large floral head that often the narrow stem is not able to support the weight of the flower. Indeed the flower “bows” to the soil below.

I kept the colour palette in the pink- blue- grey range with the outline of the petals emphasized with dark charcoal.

This painting is available and would make an elegant statement in a home.
