 Réquiem (2001-2003)

Although death and grief are universal themes, it was not until Lyn's beloved mother suffered a debilitating stroke and an inevitable death, that she was forced to search for meaning in suffering and death.

At this time a friend suggested that she listen to Gabriel Fauré's Réquiem. When asked about the genesis of the Réquiem Fauré described his personal concept of death "as a happy deliverance, an aspiration toward the happiness of the hereafter rather than a painful passing away." (harmonia mundi s.s. Mas de Vert 13200)

With this music as her muse Lyn is demonstrating the intimate relationship between the Visual and Musical Arts. In so doing she is expanding and exploring her personal understanding of death and grief.

A search for this understanding has become more acute and universal after the events of September 11, 2001.
